Umoove Launches uHealth

Umoove is proud to announce the launch of uHealth, the company’s first consumer-facing healthcare application.uHealth is a first-of-its-kind app that utilizes Umoove eye tracking to deliver brain training exercises that improve the user’s attention and focus. Through eye tracking game-like exercises, which challenge the user’s ability to be attentive, continuously focus, follow commands and avoid distractions, the app gradually builds up theses skills.

The direct relationship between eye movements and brain activity as well as various vision based therapies have been backed by many scientific studies conducted over the past decades. uHealth is the first time this type of brain training is delivered right to the end user through a simple download. uHealth will be available to download free of charge on any modern iOS device January 26th, 2015.

Founded in 2010, Umoove developed software that tracks face and eye movements on any mobile device, despite dynamic and challenging mobile environments. Umoove requires no additional hardware add-on and functions at a low CPU of less than 10% on modern devices. Last year the company opened signup for its SDK and released the “Umoove Experience” game, as a showcase to its face-tracking technology, which in the first few days had over 100,000 downloads. Since Q1 of 2014, 3rd party developers and companies have been working with Umoove’s SDK on products in the spaces of gaming, advertising, wearable AR/VR, healthcare and more, some of which have launched their gaming apps lately on iOS and Android. uHealth is the company’s first product based on its eye tracking technology to hit the market. Umoove has raised $3.25mm in funding and has filed for over twenty patents.

According to Dr. Herman Weiss, Umoove’s VP Healthcare, uHealth is aimed at close to half of the population that struggles with various levels of focus and attention difficulties. “There is strong evidence to support these exercises as a therapeutic intervention”, said Dr. Weiss. “Until now the only limitation was the heavy cost requirement of a high level therapist and technology to administer the tests.” This mobile solution will greatly enhance availability and access to anybody and everybody who feels that they have a challenge with their focus and attention.

The company says that it is recommended for users to do the short two minuteuHealth exercise on a daily basis and watch their improvement on the app’s dashboard. After several weeks, users will begin to feel significant decrease in their impulsivity and inattentiveness, as well as improvements in their overall concentration and focus. “We are essentially taking the biggest distracter in our modern world, our smartphones and tablets, and turning them into a tool to improve focus and attention” said Umoove’s co-founder and CEO Yitzi Kempinski. He also stated that this is only the beginning of uHealth; “The eyes are a window to the brain, we intend uHealth to include in the future various apps that utilize Umoove eye tracking to diagnose, track and improve brain activity”, he said.
